Merry Metal Fest

Its done. December 17th, a day of reckoning at House of Blues. The earth stood still as Carry the Storm, Decimation Theory, Carrion Sun, Will to Live and Elder Gods took the stage and brought forth a fury that even the darkest depths of Hell could not contain. If you were not there, I am sorry. It is a night that will not be forgotten for the 1000+ people who experienced it.

Highlights from the night are here. These are my personal favorites from the night, in no particular order. If you want to see more photos, you will want to find the bands on Facebook, besides, you should want to be following them anyway. Amazing stuff is coming out right now and you shouldn’t miss it.

One show down, one to go…

Last friday was Rockit Fest 3, and it was quite a great time. I will have some new photos for the live music gallery, from I.D.R, Cyrios,Torrid Complex, Carry the Storm and Five Eyes Wide. Some of the shots are already up in the live section of the Facebook page, so if you want to see them and aren’t a fan of the Facebook page, now is a perfect time to take care of that.

One more show is on the books before the end of the year at House Of Blues featuring Decimation Theory, Carry the Storm and Carrion Sun. Tickets to this show are FREE and you won’t want to miss this EPIC metal night. I will post more information in the coming days about this.

Zombie Metal Night at The Abbey Pub

Many of you know that I frequent Metal Night at the Abbey Pub, an event held on the last thursday of every month. Some of the best metal bands in town play here on this night and I highly encourage you to come check it out and have your ear drums thrashed. With Halloween coming up, and zombies being all the rage these days the fine folks behind Metal Night have set up a Zombie Metal Night!

This show is going to surely be one for the record books, with bands like Cerebral Rot, Cavernous, and Sloshtown playing and I of course, will be in attendance providing zombie photography. The Abbey Pub set up this incredible post apocalyptic zombie scene in the bar, so for everyone that comes dressed up will have the opportunity to have your picture made! It’s sure to be pretty killer (ha…ha…) so don’t miss out.

Next week you will be able to come by here where there will be a link for the photos. Go check it out, and if you like your photo there will be various options to make sure you get to have a copy, so make sure you come check back.

I have seen what some of the folks that are going to be there have done with their zombie makeup, so bring your A game if you want to even be a contender in the zombie costume contest. This one isn’t for the faint of heart.

When We Ruled H-Town – Showcase Number 2

Early last week I was contacted by Mark at Crossroads Music Magazine, he wanted to know if I would be interested in helping him out Friday for the second installment of When We Ruled H-Town at Fitzgeralds. I checked the calander and thankfully I had a free schedule, so I checked out what the deal was with this event. I learned that the show was featuring Poor Dumb Bastards, Academy Black, Blueprint, and Simpleton and that this was part of something great.

Mark was going to help out his friends at Old Man and Bitter Girl doing interviews for their podcast, and while they were hard at work selling merch and talking to the artists I was busy doing my thing, shooting the show and trying not to get trampled, beat down, or doused in various liquids, especially during the Poor Dumb Bastards set. Which by the way, if you have never seen them I must say you are missing out on one heck of a show.

The crowd was also treated to a 29 minute preview to the documentary When We Ruled H-Town, and it was absolutely incredible. Their own description sums it up the best: “When We Ruled H-Town takes an objective but nostalgic look at a not-so-distant past when a spark of energy, a deep pool of creativity, and insatiable curiosity brought musicians, artists, fans, and an entire city together for a brief moment of greatness.” Starting the evening off with such a powerful video really let everyone know they were in for something special, and I am glad I was able to be there for it.

I have a small gallery of my favorite shots from the evening here, and you will want to make sure you check out Crossroads Music Magazine as well as Old Man and Bitter Girl later for interviews and more.
